Frequently asked questions.
How do I participate?
Give us a call or send us a message. We will ask for some information about you, such as your birthdate, gender, and contact information. This will help us decide which studies you would be eligible for. If you know the name of the study you would like to participate in, please include that in any messages you leave us. We will respond to your inquiry ASAP.
If you are an adult age 56+, we will also ask you a few health-related questions in order to determine your eligibility for the study.
How long is a typical study session?
The majority of our studies take 30-90 minutes to complete. The Social Cognition and Lifespan Cognition Studies each take approximately 60-90 minutes to complete. Breaks are included in study sessions over 30 minutes.
Will my information be kept anonymous and confidential?
Yes. All study data is anonymous and confidential, and personal information we collect about you (e.g., contact information, age, gender, demographics, health) is kept in locked filing cabinets and on password protected computers accessible only to study personnel.
Will I be compensated for participation?
Yes. KPU students may be reimbursed with research credits for psychology classes. Lifespan Cognition and Social Cognition Study participants (or their parents) will receive $25 for participation in our study. We will also reimburse travel costs (e.g., parking, transit) up to $5 with proof of purchase.
Can I find out the study results?
Though we do not provide participants with their individual results, you can request to see the results of the study and we will send you yearly reports of our results as well as a copy of the study after it is completed.
I have another question… can you answer it?
Of course! Go to our contact page and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
